Wednesday, Oct. 12 - Fourteenth Century Costume - Fabric provided for the first 6 students to RSVP or bring your own. Come learn to make simple but elegant fourteenth century clothing. We will examine illustrations of people from medieval manuscripts for inspiration.

Wednesday, Oct. 19 - Calligraphy - Seeing examples of medieval calligraphy and learn to make it. Please RSVP so we bring enough pens.

Wednesday, Oct. 26 - Cloaks and Hoods - Add a warmth layer. Fabric provided for the first 6 students to RSVP or bring your own.

Wednesday, Nov. 2 - Textiles and Fiber Arts - a whirlwind hands-on tour of some of the range of medieval fiber arts: spinning with drop spindle, tablet weaving, basic embroidery. You may emerge with a small pouch or other sample project.

More dancing, fencing, and sword fighting events may also be planned during this time.

We held two demos at UCSC during orientation and the first week of classes, dancing, playing medieval music, singing, and showing medieval armor.

Tuesday, Sept. 27, 7:30pm - First Meeting. FREE FOOD! Come learn what its all about.

Thursday, Sept. 29, 6:00pm - Dancing & Sword Fighting - Come learn some late medieval and Renaissance dances. Then come see some fencing and sword fighting practice and learn how to get started--you may even get to try it out that night! (Contact Derile at scifibard (at) hotmail (dot) com if you'd like a repeat of the guided field trip to fighter practice. There is both Renaissance rapier fencing and "heavy weapons" training with medieval western martial arts at the practice. Dance practice may also be repeated in future if there is sufficient interest)

Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Beginning Illumination - Come learn about the beautiful artwork in medieval manuscripts and try your hand at creating some. (Feel free to bring your ongoing projects back to Calligraphy)
