Welcome to MedievalFun.org, an unofficial resource for UCSC students interested in the SCA

This page is intended as a resource for the students at UCSC (and anyone else!) interested in the SCA--the Society for Creative Anachronism. We do medieval recreation--recreating the best of the middle ages and Renaissance, the arts and the sciences of the period, western martial arts such as sword fighting and fencing, exploring the ideals of the period such as honor and chivalry, but leaving out things like plague and torture!

The student group is an official SOAR organization "the UCSC Medieval & Renaissance Club."

ATTENTION NEW STUDENTS: please join our Facebook.group for all the discussion of when we'll be meeting & what we'll be doing!

We did a lot of awesome stuff last quarter and last year with workshops including calligraphy & illumination, various costuming workshops, spinning, tablet weaving, embroidery, medieval cooking, dance, and jewelry-making. A number of our members also got involved in the local rapier fencing group and a few even tried out the medieval armored SCA combat known as heavy fighting. We also took some field trips to some amazing SCA events - the Masked Ball, Beltane Coronation, Mists Coronet Tournament and more.

Check out our other pages to find out about other upcoming activities and events on campus and nearby, and for resources to learn more about who we are and what we do. For the latest news on what we're up to, check us out on Facebook.
